Paris, City of Romance

Paris has a reputation for being one of the most romantic and cultural cities in the world, and with good reason. No one knows how to enjoy the balance of life – the simple things and the finer things in life – more fully than Parisians. There are lessons for any traveler in the art of love and life on the streets of Paris.

It's hard to imagine anything more romantic than standing on the steps of the Basilica
du Sacre-Coeur on the summit of Montmartre and looking down at the whole city center
with the Eiffel Tower looking back up at you.

Continuing through Montmartre, one of the oldest and most storied neighborhoods of Paris, take a walk down Rue Saint-Martin. You will pass many cafés and likely hear the voice of Edith Piaf, lamenting life and love, pouring from the doorway. If you step inside one of these cafés on any given day, chances are you will find a couple dancing in the middle of the afternoon, throwing caution to the wind. It seems that both old and young people alike always find time to dance or sing in Paris.

It's a nostalgic city. There are reminders all over the city of people throughout the ages who have come to Paris and found their muse. Cafés, like Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore, remind modern visitors that they were once the rendezvous point for Picasso, Hemingway, Sartre and other talented artists in residence. Sitting at one of these cafés, watching the people come and go, and sipping on a café au lait, it's easy to see how artists throughout the ages have felt comfortable and inspired in Paris. You might be tempted to sit all day with a book or a sketch pad, and you are welcome to do so.

Paris, City of Romance

Paris' cultural wealth is found in its museums, music, arts, festivals, and historic landmarks. The Louvre, Musée Picasso, Musée Rodin, Musée du Montparnasse, Musée Cluny, and Musée d'Orsay are just a few of the city's highlights. One can spend a week at the Louvre alone. The Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame de Paris and Opéra Garnier are also cultural landmarks that are well known the world over for their beauty, artistry, and cultural significance.

Between the Arche du Triumph and La Grand Arch, a vibrant city beckons you to take a stroll, stopping whenever the mood strikes to gaze at an interesting street performer or a beautiful display in a storefront window. Take a trip on the Metro, and you will see every
walk of life and probably receive a serenade from a busker.

Dining in Paris is an adventure and an education in itself. One does not simply eat in Paris. It is an entire experience that is expected to take hours. You and your companions are encouraged to enjoy good conversation and drink as well as delectable dishes.Paris fills every one of our senses. Falling in love there is easy. The city is simply
irresistible.
