"Can you do it all in a day? Not bloody likely! London calls to you, offering endless exploration and something new around every corner. Start with a doubledecker bus tour, but don't stop there—get off the bus and get to know the real London!"
Consisting of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom is the traditional destination to start your European vacation. Although separate countries, they are close enough to visit all of them in one trip, and you'll find vast differences in cultures, linguistic dialects and cuisine wherever you go.
It goes without saying that London is the launching point for many a European trip,
and it's not just because it's a geographically convenient starting spot. No matter
how much time you spend there, it won't be enough. But, make sure you save time
for a jaunt through the rest of England, before going on to beautiful Edinburgh to see
the countryside and witness the Highland games and wonderful music festivals; and
visit Cardiff, the Welsh capital. And if you're traveling in March, what better place to
celebrate St. Patrick's Day than in Belfast?
If you're not familiar with London, the best place to start is by taking one of the inexpensive double-decker bus tours around the city, to get a look at all the major sites. Of course, London is well known for theater, and while there, check the play schedules for your favorite show.

Venture outside of London and witness the magnificence of
Stonehenge in Wiltshire County, and don't neglect a look at the British Museum, which
boasts one of the best Egyptian exhibits in the world. Wales always seems mysterious
and far-away but it offers wonderful beach getaways, national parks and scenic beauty all
around. Hop over to Scotland to see the amazing Highland Games amidst a backdrop of
Highland dancers and pipers; and of course, Northern Ireland's rolling green hills are a
treat for the eyes.
